I’m Kate, an illustrator based in New York City, and my journey to illustration has been anything but linear. I started in fashion, working as a textile designer for several years, immersing myself in patterns, textures, and color palettes that deeply influenced my artistic perspective. Eventually, I felt the pull to express myself more freely, which led me to illustration—a space where I could bring my own voice to life on paper.
My work draws inspiration from people, fashion, and the natural world around me. I love capturing the quiet elegance in everyday moments, and I use gouache as my primary medium. There’s something grounding about painting by hand, and while I occasionally use minimal digital retouching, I prefer to keep my pieces as organic as possible.
I share a cozy NYC apartment with my husband and a thriving collection of houseplants. I also have an enduring love for vintage, “granny” sweaters—they’re like wearable art to me, each one telling its own story. My creative world is woven from a mix of past influences, present passions, and the city’s ever-evolving energy, and I’m excited to see where it leads me next.
